A Road to Live Shows:
Inclusive For All

Accessibility matters long before concertgoers arrive at venues—it begins the moment they see an event of interest.

Challenge

Many concertgoers with accessibility needs face barriers before they even arrive at the venue. There are barriers in finding accommodation information, with no digital space to share feedback. Without this input, venues struggle to improve inclusivity and audiences unattended for.

Ongoing (Apr 2025 - present)

Attending a concert should be just as effortless for disabled concertgoers as it is for anyone else. Yet, the current ticketing landscape presents a series of obstacles long before individuals even reach the venue. In some cases, people choose not to purchase accessible tickets on their first attempt, opting instead to “play it by ear” to assess the conditions firsthand and determine whether they can manage without designated seating or additional support from venue staff.

This trial-and-error approach shouldn’t be the norm. It reflects a larger issue: the lack of clear, accessible, and standardized information within the concert industry. When disabled concertgoers are left to make decisions based on guesswork or experience rather than reliable guidance, it not only limits access—it sends a message that their participation is secondary. To foster true inclusion, we must address these gaps from the start of the ticket-buying journey.

Challenges in Accessing Accessible Concert Tickets

Accessible concert tickets often vary from venue to venue, with critical details rarely provided online. As a result, individuals are typically required to call each venue directly to confirm whether their specific accessibility needs can be met.

Time-Consuming Processes and Missed Opportunities

Even on the day of the event, individuals with non-visible disabilities may face discomfort or anxiety when utilizing designated spaces in the venue designed for them.

Day-of Event Barriers

Duis cursus, mi quis viverra ornare, eros dolor interdum nulla, ut commodo diam libero vitae erat. Aenean faucibus nibh et justo cursus id rutrum lorem imperdiet. Nunc ut sem vitae risus tristique posuere.

So What Can Be Done?

To create a more inclusive concert-going experience, we need industry-wide solutions that streamline accessible ticket purchasing, provide upfront information, and ensure that accommodations are consistently and respectfully implemented.

What's Happening Now?

I am now conducting user interviews to gather personal experiences that will deepen my understanding of user needs. Based on these insights, I will design a digital environment rich with features to help users thrive—making it easy to purchase accessible tickets for events they’re interested in, discover detailed accessibility information for specific venues, and explore firsthand experiences shared by other attendees.
